The Post Office

The main Post Office in Chorzów. (Gothic Revival style is very popular in Chorzów -- the end of 19th century, and beginning of 20th century was a time of rapid expansion of the cities and towns of the region, so there are many buildings in this style.)

Christmas crib (in St Hedwig's Church)

(The severity of the crib corresponds to Neo-Romanesque architecture of the church.)

PS. The inscription above the crib means: Let's pray for peace.

Today photo from the Silesian Culture and Recreation Park (well, it is 600 ha -- almost 18% of Chorzów): lesser spotted woodpecker (Picoides minor) 'at work'.

Anchor

Chorzów is almost 500 km from the nearest sea, but we have an anchor. The anchor is the relict of the real ship used in Gdańsk Bay. Now the anchor is situated in the Silesian Culture and Recreation Park, near the pond, where very small ship are still used for tourists (but not in winter).

Christmas crib (in my parish church)

The Christmas crib in my parish church (parish of St. Francis of Assisi in Chorzów) -- build by amateurs (including my cousin), not sophisticated, but it presents the Christmas atmosphere.

PS.
We have "White Christmas" (but this gull doesn't like it):

Christmas crib

This Christmas crib is still without Jesus (as still not-born), and was prepared by local authorities (I hope, Christmas crib in my parish church will be much more interesting). The crib mix local traditional clothes (and furniture) with modern metal-work (maybe because ironworks was very important industry in Chorzów?).

Bohemian waxwings come to Poland (from NE) in winter. We are for them 'hot country' :)

Blue bears

Teddy bears in the shop "Niebiescy" (The Blues) -- teddy bears are in the colours of local soccer club "Ruch".

PS.
They have also blue Santa Claus, but it was impossible for me to take his photo :(
